Welcome to the Labki wiki
Research moves faster when knowledge is easy to find, share, and preserve. Finding protocols, training group members, organizing projects, and preserving institutional knowledge all shape how efficiently — and reproducibly — research gets done.
Labki is an open-source, wiki-based platform for managing this knowledge. It gives academic research groups a shared, structured place for protocols, onboarding materials, project tracking, and the operational knowledge that usually lives in someone's head, a scattered set of documents, or a folder no one can find. When someone in a critical role leaves, that knowledge stays with the group instead of leaving with them.
Labki is under active early development.Labki is early-stage software, and we're building it based on what research groups actually need. There's no fixed feature list or roadmap set in stone. The direction depends on input from researchers, lab managers, PIs, and anyone else running a research group. If you have thoughts on what would help your group, what's missing, or what isn't working, we want to hear it. This is a community-driven project, and your feedback directly shapes what gets built next.

Help us Improve Research Lab Operations — Thursday, July 30, 10AM–3PM, UCLA CHS 17-323. A hands-on workshop where you'll help identify the biggest challenges in research lab operations and shape Labki before it's built further. Ideal for lab managers, postdocs, graduate students, and researchers interested in lab organization. Coffee, lunch, and snacks provided.
